Frequently asked questions.
What is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay allows you to use your compatible iPhone and Apple Watch to pay securely in shops, and also iPad and Mac within apps and on the web using Safari, instead of your physical card.
Where can I use Apple Pay?
You can use Apple Pay anywhere that accepts contactless payments. This feature is available on most merchant terminals in stores and is also known as Tap & go™. You will often see this symbol:
You can also use Apple Pay within apps and on the web using Safari, wherever you see this button, or see Apple Pay listed as a payment method.
Is Apple Pay safe?
Apple Pay is safer than using a plastic credit, debit or prepaid card. Every transaction on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac requires you to authenticate with either Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
Your Apple Watch is protected by the passcode that only you know, and your passcode is required every time you pay using Apple Pay. Your card number and identity are not shared with the merchant, and your actual card numbers are not stored on your device.
When you pay in stores, neither Apple nor your device sends your actual card numbers to merchants. When you pay within apps and on the web in Safari, the merchant will only receive information like name, email address, billing and shipping addresses that you authorise to share to fulfil your order. Apps that use Apple Pay must contain a privacy policy that you can review, which governs the use of your data.

What should I do if I lose my ME card? Could I still use Apple Pay?
If your card’s gone missing, or could have been stolen, you’ll need to cancel your card as soon as you can (and request your replacement to be sent out). Don’t forget to set the new PIN for your new card when it arrives.
While you are waiting for your new card to arrive you will be able to continue using Apple Pay. The new card details will be automatically updated in your digital wallet when the new card is issued.
There are a very small number of situations where customers have been asked for a PIN by a merchant terminal. So there may be times where you will need to wait for the new card to arrive, set a new PIN, and then continue to use Apple Pay.
What should I do if I lose my Apple device?
If Find My [device] is enabled on your missing device.
You can use the 'Find My' app to find your device, take additional actions to help you recover it and keep your information safe. More information about Find My from Apple
Contact us on 13 15 63, 24/7 to suspend or disable your card on your device.

How do I return an item that I bought using Apple Pay in a store?
Give the merchant your receipt and advise what items you'd like to return. They can start processing it just like any other return.
When asked, go ahead and tap your Apple device that you used to make the original payment, just as you did to pay and verify the return with either Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
Alternately you can also give the cashier your Device Account Number so they can look up the transaction that way if they need to. To see the last four digits of the Device Account Number:
- iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Scroll down to Wallet & Apple Pay, tap the card, then scroll down to Device Account Number.
- Apple Watch: Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, on the My Watch tab, scroll down and tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap your card.
Depending on the return and refund policies of the store, it may take up to several days for the return transaction to appear on your card statement. Apple Pay activity is also included on your card statements.
